Formula 1 app for Android updated with new leadership board for 2019 season.

We're a week away from the beginning of the 2019 seasons and the official Formula 1 app for Android has been updated based on fan feedback. At least, that's what the app "What's New" says.

The app has been redesigned with an optimized live leadership board. With that, users will be able to see more drivers data. I haven't seen what this change brings yet as I haven't downloaded the update yet. And I'm not even sure it will show more driver data. But I'll keep you posted next week after the new season begins.

This update will also allow fans to track driver data with a split screen of the live leaderboard data. Just select a driver and the app will display the driver's data in the other half of the screen. A much welcome addition.

That's all about it for now, but I expect to see another update before the Melbourne GP. The app has yet to be updated for the year 2019 calendar. So expect another update during next week.

F1 TV Pro now available in Cyprus, Greece, Malta, and Portugal.

We're a month away from the 2019 F1 season and the Android app has been updated today. Fans of the sport in Cyprus, Greece, Malta, and Portugal will be able to watch the races on their devices by purchasing an F1 TV Pro subscription. The ability to watch live races on Android phones and tablets was released last year in a few countries. It's great to see the offer being extended to more countries.

This update also allows users to stream live races on the F1 TV app. Previously, this was only possible on the F1 app. If you live in one of the above-mentioned countries, download the Formula 1 app in Google Play Store.

SofaScore added push notifications for soccer goal scorers in big update for Android.

Today SofaScore published a big update to its Android app that brings the app to version 5.51.0 and includes new features that will please soccer and motorsport fans alike. 

As a soccer fan, push notifications is my favorite feature and as I'm not always in front of my TV to watch every game, push notifications on the phone and my Android watch bring me almost every action of the games instantly. Every time a team scores, SofaScore lets me know about it along with the name of the team that scored. In today's update, SofaScore added push notifications for goal scorers, meaning the app will also push the name of the player who scored. This feature must be manually enabled in the app notifications settings. SofaScore says "that if you have notifications for regular "Goals" activated as well, you'll get 2 notifications in short period." The company also said that not all games offer goal scorer notifications.

The 2018 Formula 1 World Championship will begin in 15 days with the Melbourne Grand Prix and it makes sense that SofaScore moved the popular single seater car race to the Motorsport category. I can't wait for the new F1 season to begin and see how it all unfolds in SofaScore.

Here's the complete changelog:

1. Long awaited feature – we have finally added push notifications for goal scorers. Please go to app “Notifications settings” and activate it manually.

Official F1 Android app for Android updated with Season 2018 calendar.

In 82 days, in Melbourne, about 24 of the world’s best drivers will revved up their powerful engines for the first time this year to claim the F1 teams and drivers’ championship. Lewis Hamilton, the current world champion will try to win his fifth.

Last year, at the same period, the F1 app for Android was updated with a new design that makes navigating the app and finding information about races, drivers and other F1-related info easier, thanks to the addition of tabs and the fitting of more data on the screen.

This year, the official app has been updated with the 2018 race calendar which starts on the 25th of March in Melbourne. That is 82 days from today. That is the only change mentioned in the changelog.

Formula 1 official app for Android gets a new logo.

The Official F1 app for Android is a definite source that brings exclusive content such as team radio transmissions, DRS usage indicator, live tire information and more. The app also provides the latest news, features and videos, post-race highlights, live leaderboard during every race, qualifying and practice session.

Today, the app was updated with general improvements and updates. The change log does not provide any details about the improvements and which features were updated. The onl.y visible change I spotted is the new logo. I posted the old and new logo above. In case you're not a fan, the old logo is on the left

The season 2017 just ended last Sunday with Lewis Hamilton winning his forth Grand Prix, and Sebastian Vettel finishing second. The next season will start next year on the 25^th of March in Australia and promises to be exciting with Hamilton and Vettel now being even on championships won.

Who will be the 2018 champion? We’ll find out next year. Until then, download the update in Google Play Store. Note that this update is also available on Windows 10.

In 18 days, in Melbourne, about 24 professional F1 drivers will revved up their powerful engines and to claim the F1 teams and drivers championship. Sadly, last years champion, Nico Rosberg, won't be in the starting blocks after he surprisingly retired shortly after winning last year's title. Valtteri Bottas is joining Mercedes in replacement of Rosberg and will team up with Lewis Hamilton. So much for the short story.

To help fans prepare for the upcoming season, The F1 app for Android has been updated with a new design that makes navigating the app and finding information about races, drivers and other F1-related info easier, thanks to the addition of tabs and the fitting of more data on the screen. The app main screen obviously provides exclusive F1 news and has also been updated with contents pertaining to the 2017 season.
