Launcher 10 brings Windows Mobile live tiles to Android and it looks great.

Android is the most customizable mobile OS on this planet and you’ve probably read that several times and as such the Google Play Store offers a wide choice of launchers for you to use if you do not like your device’s default one. I currently use Microsoft’s Arrow Launcher, which is to me the smartest launcher available on Android as it learns from my daily usage and habits to push up the apps I use most to the top for quick and easy access. This post, however, is about another launcher that Windows Mobile fans will very likely appreciate for its similarity to Windows Mobile live tile screen. Actually, it brings the Windows Live tile experience to Android.

It’s name is Launcher 10 and is available free in the store with in-app purchases. This launcher brings Windows live tiles to Android making it look like a Windows Mobile device. The live tiles will show notification for the calendar, contacts, clock etc. Tile badges will show number of missed calls, unread messages etc. And like Windows, swiping from the right will reveal the all apps list, while pinned apps can be resized. Additionally, users can choose the tiles color, transparency, tap and hold to reposition them, and unlike Windows Mobile, Launcher 10 supports landscape mode. The tiles will rearrange perfectly to fit as you rotate your device. 

If you are a previous Windows Mobile user or fan or would just like to experience live tiles on your Android device, Launcher 10 is definitely worth a look. To help you make up your mind, check out the change log for the latest update:

1. Most widgets should now fill the full size of the tile if you have turned off the tile background behind widgets option.

2. Tile labels and live tile text should now scale to fit the tiles. Now if you change the number of tile columns, the text will scale to ensure a consistent look.

3. Added a preference for tile label text size so you can customize the size of the tile labels.

4. Added a preference for app list size to allow for custom sizing of the all apps list (text and icons).

Pushbullet now supports MMS.

Pushbullet is starting the year with a pretty big update for those out there who still send MMSs. In case you forgot, MMS are picture messages that we used to send before smartphones were invented. OK, That's a bit exaggerated, but I do not know anyone around me who still sends MMS. The folks behind Pushbullet seems to think the contrary and decided to bring MMS support to the app.

Today's update will let users send picture messages via Pushbullet. Since the app is cross-platform, you will be able to send picture messages from a PC, a Android device  running Lollipop or more. 

So if you're still sending MMSs around, check out the latest version of Pushbullet in the Play store.

Pushbullet now lets you send group messages from your Windows computer and Android tablet.

Pushbullet made it easy to send text messages from our Windows computer and Android tablets. Today, the amazing team behind Pushbullet published another update that brings group texting support to the app. Users of Windows and android on tablets will thus be able to reply to groups on their devices without reaching out to their phones. All that is needed to start using this new feature is to download this update in the link at the end of this post. 

Group texting is supported in Chrome via the extension, the Windows desktop app and the Android app. The update will be available soon for Safari, Firefox and Opera extensions. Sending group text will be without limits until January 1st. Pass that date, the same individual text message limit will apply to free users of Pushbullet.

Last week, Pushbullet added Remote Files which lets users browse and request files from their other devices. This feature has been improved based on users' feedback requesting the ability to switch drives. Pushbullet is making this possible with this update. 

Whether you're a free or paid user of Pushbullet, download the update from Google Play and enjoy sending group text from your Windows computer and Android tablet and browse to any other drives than the default C:\.

Pushbullet lets you browse files on any Android or Windows device anywhere.

Pushbullet got a big update today that brings remote file sharing to the popular app. Remote file sharing lets users grab files on any Android device or Windows devices or vice-versa. So it works both ways as long as both devices are online. According to a blog post, Pushbullet states that "Remote Files requires a native app to work. Right now it's supported in the latest versions of our Android and Windows desktop apps."

Remote Files is disabled by default on Android and Windows. Follow the steps below to enable Remote Files:
Android:

• Slide out the app drawer.
• Tap Settings.
• Enable Remote File Access.

Windows:

• Open Pushbullet Settings.
• Check Remote Files Access.

Remember, Pushbullet started their pro offering since the beginning of the month. The company announced that Remote Files will be available to both free and Pro Pushbullet users with the exception of a limit on the number of files per month.

Pushbullet brings your phone's full SMS conversation on your computer.

Late last year, Pushbullet introduced a new feature which allowed users to send SMS on their Windows computer or through Chrome browser. The ability to chat is in fact handled by the phone and Pushbullet simply pushed the message to your computer in a way similar to Facebook chathead. While it was a very welcome feature, it had a limitation. The app was only capable of showing one message. Today, Pushbullet was updated to allow Android users to see the full SMS conversation, further reducing interaction with the phone while working on a computer.

The update, which raises the version number to 16.3 was published today in Google Play store and does not contain any other changes or fixes. 

Microsoft updates Remote Desktop for Android with multi-session support for launching RDP files & handler links.

Remotely access files on your Windows PC from an Android device is possible thanks to Microsoft Remote Desktop app. It is free for download in the Play store and Microsoft keeps updating the app quite regularly, listening to users feedback. The latest update, released on May 8, addresses some important issues brought to Microsoft's attention through its feedback channel. 

The update brings the app version to 8.1.12 and includes the following:

• New: Multi-session support for launching RDP files or RDP protocol handler links.
• Fixed: Connection issues that caused errors 0x107 and 0x207.
• Fixed: Connection issues where the certificate dialog kept reappearing.

If you have have not tried Remote Desktop yet, get it free in the Play store and you can connect to your PC and your work from almost anywhere. The description in the store states that Windows Professional and Windows Server edition are supported. However, I recommend you check the Remote Desktop Client on Android FAQ to get a full list of supported Windows versions. The FAQ also provides how-tos as well to get you started.

TuneIn Radio gets playback & buffering improvements, updated widgets.

TuneIn Radio brings the world's largest collection of radio stations to your Android device, that's over 100,000 stations for your listening pleasure with categories including songs, podcasts, shows and more. The app is also cross-platform, therefore available on Windows Phone, iOS and Windows. TuneIn also has a social touch in that you can share what you're listening with your followers and vice-versa. The Android version of the app is also Android Wear friendly and works with Chromecast too.

TuneIn Radio has an update available in Play store with the following improvements and fixes:

• playback & buffering improvements.
• updated homescreen widgets.

Pushbullet releases universal copy & paste across devices and PCs.

You thought that copy & paste could not be improved upon and Pushbullet is here to prove you wrong. Copy & paste is a basic function of any OS, one that we take for granted. It allows us to copy stuff from between files, between different file formats, keep or adopt the format of the source or destination document. Again, we thought that was all to it.

Windows users already experienced the ability to copy & paste between devices. The universal copy & paste is now supported by Chrome and Firefox. Of course, it comes as a browser extension. Install the app on your device and universal copy & paste will work automatically. See it in action in the video:
