Google One will now automatically backup your phone data.

Google One cloud storage went live last year offering a paid storage for backing up phone data to the cloud. Starting at $1.99 per month, users are offered storage options ranging from 100GB to 30TB to save messages, photos, videos, and contacts online in case disaster strikes.

Yesterday Google announced in a blog post they're improving the service. Besides the standard features mentioned above, Google One will now automatically backup your phone. In addition, the service will backup original quality photos, videos, and multimedia messages (MMS). And users will be able to manage all that on their Android devices from the Google One app.

Google said, "With Google One, you already get more storage for your photos, videos, and documents—giving you the peace of mind that your memories and important files are stored in the cloud. Now with automatic phone backup, we're taking another step in helping you keep the stuff you care about safe."

Dropbox now supports Acrobat XD and gets a revamped homescreen in latest update for Android.

Dropbox is not the most popular cloud storage service on the market, but it does offer a full-fledged cloud service with file-syncing service and online collaboration. Dropbox proposes two types of services: Personal, which works pretty much like other similar services; The Pro version has Enhanced collaboration for teamwork in the enterprise. Users receive 3GB of storage free on signing up, which pales in comparison to Microsoft and Google offerings. Anyway, Dropbox is here to stay and keep on improving its services and today’s update is just another example of their intention to remain competitive.
The app home screen has been redesigned not only to just show recent files, it will also show files pending uploads, notifications and starred items. The update also lets users hide the recent items from the home screen. This can be done in the app settings.
The last item in the changelog is support for Adobe XD document. Dropbox will now be able to preview XD documents on the go. This feature is also available from Dropbox website. “XD lets you wireframe, create low or high fidelity visual designs, define navigation flows and transitions between artboards, preview and share interactive prototypes, gather feedback from stakeholders, and export assets for production use.”, says Adobe.
Dropbox users can upgrade the app in Google Play Store. If you’re considering subscribing to Dropbox, you’ll get 3GB of free storage to start. You can earn more through referrals and other actions like enabling camera uploads, for example. Again, other cloud storage services give you more than 3GB on sign up.

Box will now sync Your "Recent List" across devices and preview DICOM files.

Cloud storage service has been updated with two useful features today. The first one is the Recent list within the app will now show files accessed on other devices as well as the browser. A feature that makes sense when your data lives in the Cloud and, nowadays, we use more than one device to access those data. So it's logical to have every piece of information possible sync across them.

The second feature Box added to its Android app is support for previewing DICOM files. I had to do a search to figure that one out. According to Wikipedia Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), "is a standard for handling, storing, printing and transmitting information in medical imaging." There you have it, Box is now able to safely handle your medical imaging.

Get Box in Google Play Store.

Cloud storage service Box now supports unlocking via fingerprint on Android devices.

Box is one of many cloud storage service on offer for users to store their data and today, the app for Android was updated with support for finger unlocking, provided you have Passcode enabled. Box uses a 4 digits numeric passcode and when enabled, users have to type in that passcode every-time they open Box on their phones or tablets. As from today, users that have phones with fingerprint scanners will be able to unlock the app that way, making it faster to access the data they store on Box. The new feature is not enabled by default and can be activated in the settings of the app, under Security Settings.

Box for Android now lets you upload folders into your Box account.

We never have enough of storage, be it on our devices or in the Cloud. The latter being extremely useful after we've filled up our devices' on-board storage with pictures and videos and with the holidays season upon us, additional storage is more than welcome. In addition to whatever cloud storage you have, and if you haven't considered it yet, Box is also an alternate choice if you're looking for some free gigs of storage.

Box has been updated to allow its users to upload folders to your new or existing Box account. Current users will need to update the app on their Android device to easily upload their pics. New users will also get to enjoy this new feature and also get 10 GB of free storage and a limit of 250 MB of files upload. A nice offer in my opinion.

Head over to Google Play Store to update or download Box for Android.
